bamboo drawdown

The climate crisis is one of the biggest challenges facing humanity today.

Growing bamboo is one of the solutions for climate restoration proposed in the drawdown project, with a global fixation potential of billions of tons of CO2 per year and an economic potential of billions of dollars.

Bamboo is a grass that grows and regenerates at a very fast rate (up to a meter a day!), and rarely needs to be replanted after being harvested. Bamboo forests help mitigate climate change because they effectively sequester carbon dioxide during their growth.

According to world literature and studies, a dunam of bamboo fixes about 15 tons of carbon per year, and may generate revenues of hundreds of dollars per dunam per year from the sale of carbon credits - and this is beyond the revenues from the sale of bamboo and its products.

Bamboo has over 1,000 different industrial uses. The size of the global bamboo market is 59.3 billion dollars and is expected to increase by 4.5% per year until 2030.

The Climate Restoration Network made a strategic decision to develop the bamboo market in Israel, which will include growers, industry and "Bambotech" - technological innovation in the field of growing and utilizing bamboo and its applications.

For this purpose, the network established a partnership with the Israeli Bamboo Center in Pardes Hana , which provides consulting, planning and support services in bamboo cultivation, construction with bamboo, import and marketing of high-quality bamboo products for construction, professional support services, consulting, workshops, students in the field of bamboo agriculture, and services for the production of bamboo products to order personally.
