Negev Cleanup
The Climate Restoration Network is a limited company established in Israel in 2021. The network accelerates the implementation in the field of solutions to deal with the climate crisis and climate restoration and deals with the initiation, planning and management of projects.
The State of Israel and mainly the agricultural and industrial sectors are faced with huge amounts of plastic waste that accumulate every day. The lack of regulation, enforcement and economic incentives makes it difficult to clear the waste from the agricultural fields, and the problem is getting worse every year.
The plastic waste crumbles in the agricultural and open areas, and is an immediate threat of animal poisoning, soil pollution, groundwater pollution and of course the threat of illegal fires that severely pollute the land and water and spread carcinogenic substances into the air.
- 900,000 tons of plastic waste is produced in Israel per year.
- 40,000 tons of agricultural plastic waste is produced in Israel per year.
- 18,000 tons of agricultural plastic waste are scattered today in open areas in the Gaza Envelope.
- 70% of the waste is not treated properly.
In cooperation with the residents' movement to clean up the Negev and in memory of the late Tamar Kedem Siman-Tov, who was murdered with her family in the events of October 7, the network is establishing a management system that locates the sources of waste in Otef and directs them to appropriate recycling plants. In addition, the climate restoration network provides services for issuing and trading plastic certificates , which constitute an additional income channel to cover the costs of collecting, sorting and transporting the waste.
